Pulmonary Disease and Internal Medicine
Welcome To Peter Ebenstein, M.D.
WHY CHOOSE ME AS YOUR DOCTOR:
1) LOYALTY. I WORK FOR YOU, NOT FOR SOME LARGE CORPORATION.
2) AVAILABILITY. WHEN YOU CALL, I PICK UP THE PHONE, NOT AN ASSISTANT OR A "COVERING PROVIDER."
3) PERSONAL SERVICE. I GET TO KNOW MY PATIENTS. NO SIX MINUTE VISITS.
4) TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. YALE PUMONARY. THEN SECTION CHIEF AT A TEACHING HOSPITAL. THEN TWENTY-SIX YEARS IN PRIVATE PRACTICE.
As a physician I took an oath called the Hippocratic Oath, to do what I believe is in the best interest of my patient. I do not work for a large corporation, an HMO, a hospital or an insurance company. I work for my patient. This is an important distinction, because the people who run such organizations do not take the Hippocratic Oath. Their duty is to do what is in the best interest of their institution or of their stockholders. They are corporate executives. I am not.
I have been practicing medicine in White Plains since 1986. I came to private practice as a New York internist and pulmonologist after 5 years experience as Chief of Pulmonary Disease and Physician in Charge of the Medical

The secret of caring for the patient is to care for the patient. -- Sir William Osler
Intensive Care Unit at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. In 1986, I decided to enter solo private practice as a pulmonologist in New York.
What I do: Pulmonary Medicine: Evaluation and consultation on people with breathing problems, problems of the lung, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. To help with this work I have a full pulmonary function testing laboratory.
Internal medicine: For any patient over 18 I do comprehensive management from routine physical exams to primary care of patients with complex medical problems in consultation with other New York internal medicine specialists when necessary.
While I see patients by appointment, I can generally get people in on short notice. My day can expand to meet the needs of my patients. This is one advantage of being in solo practice.
